Our project of recovery and restoration of an old chalet in Petosan, La Thuile, Valle d’Aosta has been published on Casabella 908.
Observing the mayen from the outside, the desire to be perfectly in tune with the context is clearly visible; a single detail narrates the particular approach, namely the placement of the openings. Generally alighted on two levels, in this case, they have been positioned in an alternating way, creating a more abstract, contemporary and poetic rhythm. As in all Alpine architecture, the openings were well-gauged, reducing heat exchange points to a minimum and placing the windows on the sides less subject to prevailing winds.
In the drawings, the elevation and the plan studied with the golden ratio.
